“Coming Again”

“Coming Again” is an anthem arranged for mixed choir (SATB) with piano and organ accompaniment.  The piece opens simply, with a solo to be sung by a child (or softly by the women’s voices), using the words to “Jesus Loves Me”, with the composer’s own pentatonic melody.  The piece then builds on that theme, with sections for four-part mixed choir, two-part men’s voices, and three-part women’s voices. The anthem reaches its zenith as it recalls words from Revelation: “…then we’ll join that mighty throng, sing the everlasting song, ‘Worthy, worthy is the Lamb, Son of God, the great I Am; Son of God, the great I Am'”.

The anthem was premiered at The Worship Place in Georgetown, Texas by The Worship Place Choir in 2011, directed by Frank Elrod, with church organist Lorene Thomas and church pianist Lynn Lee.
